Can’t have a blog and not talk about wakeboarding can I?

Things I think about this week.

RIDE STRONG! Take off Strong, land strong…. forceful yet not stiff… and you will realise that the ride is easier, more stylish and you probably won’t get hit with injuries that much..

I realised that in many occassions fear is the reason why we get hurt on wakeboarding…not the difficulty of the trick itself…

imagine… when you hit the wake at high speed..as you approaches, fear holds you back causing you to ease the edge ( i am sure many have experience that).. all of the sudden you are neither here nor there… the wake sucks you down and then throws you up… the reduction in power causes you to not take full control of the pop and the shifting of the hip towards the back, overweighing down the back foot (due to fear)…. you lose control and next thing you know it… the nose of the board is in the air and you crash land on your ass…

Or

on an invert… you go up strong but uncertainity causes you to doubt your ability to land it… limbs go weak… you land awkward… WHAM!   your chin made contact with your knees or you clip the water on the edge, bindings comes off on impact…

Well think about it.. if you ride strong in and land strong… even if you fall… you body would still be upright or opened up (not in fetal posture which i think is the worst kinda of crash posture) and thus reduce the impact of the crash…. and maybe a slap by the surface of the water that’s it.. Least you would know, you can complete your rotation or clear the two wake…

So next time you when U ride my friends.. try it.. think RIDE STRONG!!!

Second thing, Por4..highlighted to me….

A pop is a pop, a grab is a grab… cant mix them.. get one then get the other..  all too often when we initiate a grab… our mind’s on it way way before we are at a good enuff elevation or when we are fully ready to just reach for the board …

When that happens, as in pre-mature grabbing,   we lose height and losing height meant losing hang time…. it becomes a haphazard grab!!!  not nice…

So next time when you are out on the water… try… this…   before you start your progressive edge into the wake..tell yourself what grab you wanna try… then once you commit to  it..put the trick aside, just focue on getting the pop right …  only when you are comfy with the air time, or right at the peak.. then allow your mind to drift back into the grab!!!

my 2 cent’s…. good luck

U’re the BEST!!!

second time "bloggin"

Finished the Book, Man and Boy,  3 days…..  a testament how well written it was… I couldn’t wait; head straight to Dymocks and bought it’s sequel "Man and Wife"…

The gist of the book is -

how the  character juggled with his new life now that there are new additions and  one subtraction from his "blended" family.. Couple of challenges awaites him and I am lookin forward to see how he handles them…esp the one involving his Kid.

I quite like this author because I guess as I read along, I could identify his predicament, not the bit about his relationship with his son of course but his mentality, attitude.. As if I had been thru that road before too…

Not gonna ruin it for folks who wanna read the book… Go get it.. worth the read, but not sure if worth the Bloody #@$^@^ HKD$98… It is just a damn Freaking paperback… Can’t remember the last time, I paid those kinda money for a paperback novel..

book review. to start

How do i start this..  Ok..

I am reading this book… Man and Boy..  by Tony Parson….

It is an old book.. think was a bestseller. Well….

It is how a guy had everything, career, wife and kid and threw it all away because he got horny one night..

Well, of course his recovery was the theme of the book but I am amazed how the author can elegantly described his flaws such tat readers would sympathize with him, rather than to crucify him on the rotting totem pole..

Oh well.. still reading it..

British Author but surprisingly none of that english beat around the bush indirect language..

i like this book..

interesting factoids to show that he is not really into the whole US culture..   Han Solo does not carry a light sabre..  hahaha
